About Dr. Dörte Petersen

Dr. Dörte Petersen is a board-certified dermatologist and is a graduate of the University of Lübeck Medical School. After medical school, she moved to the United States to complete an Internal Medicine residency program at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. In 2005, she became board-certified by the American board of Internal Medicine and moved back to Germany to start a dermatology residency at the University of Heidelberg. Upon receiving the German board of Dermatology certification, she worked in both private outpatient clinics and hospitals throughout Hamburg, Germany.

Dr. Petersen specializes in the following:

  • actinic keratosis
  • atopic dermatitis
  • rosacea
  • yeast infections
  • eczema
  • urticaria
  • perioral dermatitis
  • psoriasis
  • seborrheic dermatitis.

In addition, she is certified to perform minor dermatology surgical procedures.

As a member of the German Society for Dermatology and the German Society for Pediatric dermatology, she has published several articles in pediatric journals focusing on topics ranging from the management of psoriasis in children to common parasitic diseases of the skin. In addition, she regularly attends dermatology conferences and enjoys conducting lectures throughout the medical community of interest.

Before moving to Norway in 2021, she was employed at the Wilhelmstift, a big children’s hospital in Hamburg, Germany where she worked as an attending physician in pediatric dermatology. She currently resides in Stavanger with her husband and 3 children.
